Great quality printer
This printer is what I’ve been looking for. I was looking for something with lower cost for ink. I printer a lot of pictures and colored graphs. I printed 40 pictures this weekend without barely any ink being used. The quality of the pictures were top notch as well even without photo paper. It is quick. Set up was easy and straightforward. I’m loving this printer so far.
Great idea but doesn't work
I can't get the printer to work because it has an issue with the print cartridges that were included in the package. The worked for a little while and now are showing up as defective and the printer will not print

The perfect all in one I didn't know I needed
The HP Smart Tank Plus 651 Wireless All-in-One, has been amazing. It was very to install, I absolutely love how easy it is to do wireless printing especially having documents on my phone seamlessly print on my printer. I do a lot of business printing primarily using black ink, I can say that this printer is fast, I have printed over 200 pages this week and looking at my ink levels you would think I have not used the printer yet. I've made some color copies and they look very good, in the past I've shied away from color printers because ink was so expensive. I am glad I was introduced to the HP Smart Tank 651. I also appreciate the scanner and I've been scanning a lot of documents and old photos, if you are in need a of new printer / scanner get this one you will not be disappointed. The HP Smart Tank 651 is very easy to set up, you will be be printing in no time.
Printing at home made easy !!!
I am speechless!! How easy it was easy to use starting from unboxing to printing . It was actually able to do this all on my own without husband !! I love the fact that printing is so easy and ink is so convenient , no more running to buy expensive cartridges after little use. Kids are super excited to be able to print in color too.

Seamless and Easy Printer
I’ve been using the Smart Tank 651 for two weeks now, and overall, it’s been a solid printer. The best thing about it is the refillable ink tank system, which was easy to fill and I've printed roughly 20 pages now—seriously, the ink levels barely budge. The print quality is sharp, especially for documents and it handles color pretty well without looking washed out. Setup was fairly simple, though connecting it to Wi-Fi took a little patience. The automatic duplex printing is a nice bonus, saving paper without extra hassle. My only gripe is that it’s not the fastest printer out there, but if you need reliable, high-volume printing without breaking the bank on ink, this is a great choice.
Great Classroom Companion
I was able to easily set up this printer using WIFI when I brought it home. I wanted to complete the initial set up and try it out at home before bringing it to my classroom. It was a smooth process with easy to follow instructions with great visuals. After the test print and printer heads were aligned properly, I went on to print numerous colored copies. The print quality and speed were great. After I was satisfied this HP Smart Tank 651 printer would work well in my classroom I brought it in. I would like to note that my school does not allow us to connect printers to the wifi, or install drivers to our work computers on our own, but this was still not an issue for this HP printer. I was able to use a usb cable to connect the printer to my work HP laptop and connect it using the HP Smart Program on my computer. This printer is by far my favorite printer I have used. I am able to make class sets of color copy worksheets within minutes. The scanner/copier feature comes in handy when I am short on textbooks and need a quick copy of the passages. This printer also prints double sided copies. The HP 31 and HP 32xl ink refill bottles are available to purchase in stock my local retailers, so I do not have to wait on a shipment of ink. Best of all, I can rest assured that I will not have to pay a fortune to refill the ink. This is a very cost effective printer for me as a teacher. Now I will be able to provide my students with vibrant handouts that spark their interests without having to sacrifice money for ink cartridges.
Crafting Game Changer
This HP Smart Tank 651 is exactly what I was looking for. The setup was relatively easy. The ink install was super easy. I already used the HP Smart app on my mobile device, so connecting to the printer through the app was a breeze. My previous printer was a regular inkjet printer, with single-use cartridges, and I would go through so much ink trying to print off pictures for different crafting projects. The amount of ink used to print off just one full sheet picture would have killed half of my cartridge. I don't even notice any ink lost from the Smart Tanks. I'm also impressed with the quality of the "cups" picture that I printed using regular paper. The colors are vibrant. The skyline picture was done on a special glossy paper that I use called waterslide paper, and the ink didn't smear during printing or after printing. I'm impressed with the quality. I'm super excited about this printer upgrade. I can't wait to see all the other things it will do. Plus, it is gonna save me a ton of money on ink. I will recommend this to all of my crafty friends.
Good investment…
I was a little hesitant about purchasing a tank printer but all in all I was happy I did prints very fast and is very reliable . great print photo quality and very quiet And Easy setup .
Smart Tank on a budget
I was pleased when the HP Smart Tank 651 arrived as my previous multifunction printer was nearing it's effective life, loved it for its features and low cost printing for the past 11+ years. The 651 was easy to unpack and get it up for running with detailed instructions for getting it started. The challenges began with the smart app. It wouldn't pick the wifi signal at my home office. Had to move to a room near to the router but again it would not pick the SSID and had to manually log to the network everytime the printer is restarted. Prints great with good colors though the color prints are awfully slower vis a vis black. Have been unable to install the scan driver inspite of multiple attempts. I guess will have to call the support desk to figure out the solution. Hope am able to fix it soon. Overall, a good budget option if looking for a smart tank but has rough edges to overcome.
Not quite what I am use to
So, I would like to start by pointing out that all I have owned for the better part of 15 years now has been HP printers. The Smart Tank 651 replaced my older OfficeJet Pro 8910 which is stsill on its last leg, so this review is basically putting the two side to side. When it comes to features, both printers are All-In-Ones capable of copy, scan, print, and fax. I wish that the Smart Tank printer had a color display like that 8910, but that is very small complaint. The size of the 561 is about a third of the size of the 8910, that isn't really a relevant thing to me either thougjh. Now the things that I do wish the Smart Tank had that my 8910 has is a bottom loading feed tray, I personally hate back loaded printers. I am on a break from school right now so I haven't done a lot of printing on it yet, but I do feel like it could be a little quicker compared to the age of my 8910 and the fact that it can print faster then the 561. I am curious to see how long this ink lasts in the tanks comapred to my ink cartridges in my OfficeJet Pro. I am also wondering about the cost of refil bottles, which I haven't looked into yet. My only other question I have is, are these printers eligible for InstantInk like my old one is? Does anyone know? Overall, I am excited about the new Smart Tank 561, I have been waiting for HP to jump on the bandwagon for a while and I am glad that they finally did! It will obviously need a little more use, which it will get in the next month after my classes start back up and I will update a new testimonial then. As of right now, the 561 is a good choice for a printer for someone who doesn't have high printing demands or for just a personal printer.
